BJ Novak - aka Ryan Bailey Howard aka The Temp aka Fire Guy

While Melissa and I were in Philadelphia, we had the lucky experience of running into BJ Novak, one of the producers of The Office (as well as one of the actors). We were in the Philadelphia airport waiting to go back to Salt Lake and we had a couple hours to wait, so we were reading books and talking. I went to look for some food and while walking around the airport, I walked past BJ and recognized him immediately. I turned around to find Melissa (and mainly to get my camera, so I could get a picture, because I was sure that no one in my office would believe me). As I went back to the waiting area where Melissa was at, I explained to her who I saw and then we both saw BJ come and sit down in the same waiting area we were in. I wanted to talk with him but I could not remember his real name (I kept calling him Ryan from The Office). I called one of my colleagues from work and he reminded me that his name was BJ Novak.

Since I knew that I would not have another chance, I merely walked up to him and said, "You're BJ Novak, right? from The Office? I am a huge fan!". He smiled and said yes. I asked him for a picture with him and he asked how long until our flight. I told him we had a couple of hours still, so he said he would come over after finishing his lunch.

So, after 5 minutes (during which Melissa and I were frantically trying to think of what to talk with him about, what to ask him, etc.). Melissa was somewhat surprised that I actually spoke to him, so she was especially freaking out. BJ Novak then came over and we chatted for a couple minutes. He said he always liked to meet some fans of The Office. He asked about my interest in the office and also asked me about what kind of company I worked for. He was very down to earth and very easy to talk with.

One interesting thing that came up during the conversation was when Melissa talked about our desire to visit Scranton while in Philadelphia. Melissa mentioned that Scranton was not very close to Philadelphia and BJ mentioned that his friend had just texted him and said that he had just driven through Scranton and how small it was. In talking with BJ I got the impression that he had never actually been to Scranton.

Anyway, that was our fun experience in running into 'fire guy' from The Office.
